The triumphal way is the result of a century long royal project to extend westwards the Louvre Palace. This extention included the royal Tuileries Gardens, the Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysées Avenue. It was completed with Arc de Triomphe at the top of Champs-Elysées Avenue.

Start at the Louvre (A), continue through beautiful and relaxing Tuileries Gardens (B) up to Place de la Concorde (C), the most beautiful square in Paris. Pay attention to car traffic when walking across Place de la Concorde.

Walk up the Champs-Elysées past Grand Palais (D), the grandiose 1900 palace, Vuitton megastore (check page on Champs-Elysées shops) (E) up to Arc de Triomphe (F).
