Louvre Lens is the second museum opened by the Louvre. Although it has 403 rooms, the Louvre can only exhibit a small percentage of its art treasures. To revitalize a former coal mine area in northern France, the Louvre opened the Louvre Lens, one of the top museums of arts in France. A third Louvre museum opened in 2017 in Abu Dhabi. The Louvre Museum in Paris opened a second museum end 2012 in Lens, a former coal mining city of northern France. Louvre Lens, designed by the japanese architect firm Sanaa, instantly became a top attraction: a selection of the world famous collections of the Louvre Museum, relaxing architecture, temporary exhibitions, parking space, nice garden, perfect location close to A1 from Lille to Paris.

The museum is open every day except Tuesday, from 10 am to 6 pm (last admission 5.15 pm). The museum is closed on Tuesdays, 1 January, 1 May and 25 December.
The permanent exhibition is free. Temporary exhibitions have various prices, most of the time 10 euros.
The Louvre Lens Museum is ideally located for a stop between the UK or the Netherlands and Paris. By car, take A21, exit Louvre Lens, follow the Louvre Lens signs until you reach the parking space. Locate Louvre on Lens plan.
You can also easily visit the Louvre Lens from Paris in a day. Take the early TGV train to Lens station (1 hour), then a bus or taxi at the station.
