13 rue de la Paix. The legendary Cartier boutique, reopened its doors end 2022 after two years of renovation.
In 1899, when Cartier moved to 13, rue de la Paix, the road, opened up in 1814 at the request of Napoléon, already concentrated fashion houses, prestigious fabric merchants, perfumers and goldsmiths. It then distinguished itself as a Mecca for Parisian fashion but not yet for jewelry.
From the outset, the Cartier boutique was unique because of its universal vocation: its opening in 1899 was associated with the arrival of Louis Cartier as head of the house and the creation of the design studio.
The architectural identity has been preserved, as has the original façade and historical details, notably the decorative mouldings, combined with contemporary elements. All of this is under a glass roof that floods the six floors with light.
