Paris Digest's selection of Paris monuments

From the Middle Ages up to now, French kings, emperors and presidents have spent a lot of money and energy for Paris.

They built magnificent public buildings and organized new urban perspectives.

As an example, the Louvre royal palace was continuously worked on from the time of king Philippe Auguste in 1190 to 1989 with the inauguration of the spectacular pyramid designed by American architect Ieoh Ming Pei.

Christianity also contributed greatly to Paris beauty with churches such as Notre-Dame, Sacré-coeur and Sainte-Chapelle.

This altogether forms a marvelous urban landscape where amateurs will endlessly discover new marvels.

Among them, the Eiffel tower, the Louvre palace, Notre-Dame cathedral and the palace of Versailles are truly unique.

Other monuments well deserve your time and attention.

From the top of Arc de Triomphe, Trocadero, Pantheon and Grande Arche, you will enjoy a great Paris view.

Les Invalides are linked to Napoleon's history. The Conciergerie takes you back to the middle ages. The Sacre-coeur is part of a visit of Montmartre, a lovely Paris district. The beautiful  Opera Garnier can be the venue of a great evening in Paris.

A good way to discover Paris monuments, if you just stay a few days, is on a Paris coach tour.
