Paris Natural History Museum

Created in 1635 as the Paris Royal Botanical Garden (picture), the Paris Natural History Museum is located in Jardin des Plantes (Plant Gardens) on Paris left bank.

Its main attractions are the Hall of Evolution, the gallery of comparative anatomy (pdf) with dinosaurs, giant birds, insects, and the gallery of mineralogy with 600 000 minerals, giant crystals and royal precious stones. A newly opened department is displaying extraordinary minerals.

The Jardin des Plantes feature beautiful flowers (picture), a small zoo, and 19th century tropical glasshouses (picture).
