The large park of
the palace of Versailles was
designed between 1660 and 1670 by Le Nôtre, the gardener of French king Louis
XIV.
The
park is a masterpiece of French gardening, where nature is ordered geometrically
according to the principles of Classicism.
Spread with beautiful basins, statues and fountains,
the park was the decor of
magnificent royal parties during the 17th and 18th centuries. |

The park of the
palace of Versailles is at the
same time a perfect place to take a rest outside of Paris and a beautiful and historical
garden.
Riding a boat on the Great Canal, a bicycle in the park alleys, taking a snack in
the elegant La Flotille salon de thé, you will like it.
Don't miss too the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon palaces
in the park.

Far smaller than the main palace, built during the 18th century, they would
alone deserve the trip to Versailles, this magical royal city.
Count a whole day at least for the park and the palace. Don't
skip it! You will regret it.
A good way to discover
Versailles is on a bus
tour.
