The Bois de Vincennes is a
very large
and pleasant Parisian wood on the Eastern side of Paris.
Together with the
Bois de Boulogne on the Western side of Paris, the Bois de
Vincennes was designed in the second part of the 19th century by Baron Haussmann.
Baron Haussman was inspired by the large London parks
such as the beautiful Hyde Park and Regent Park.
His legacy are two exceptional Paris recreational
areas.

The Daumesnil lake in Bois de Vincennes

The Bois de Vincennes is the remains of an old royal forest, as
testifies the great medieval Vincennes castle on its edge (Metro station Chateau de Vincennes on line 1).
The Vincennes zoo
is the other key attraction of the Bois de Vincennes. Don't skip canoeing on Daumesnil lake or jogging through the woods.
The Zoo and lake can best be reached by the metro (Porte Dorée station on line
2).
