One of the true and typical
pleasures of Paris, the Paris food markets date back to the Middle Ages.
In narrow streets lined with high and old houses, the
open-air and crowded food markets offer their picturesque assortment of food stores, restaurants and
morning animation.
There, you can buy meat, fish, vegetable, fruit,
pastries,
and many delicious French dishes at reasonable prices.

The Paris food markets are
often lined with cafés and restaurants. They are part of the atmosphere of Paris.
We specially like the Rue Mouffetard food market (above) near the Panthéon, the Rue Montorgueil
food market (left) near the Les Halles
metro station and the Rue de Buci food market in the Saint-Germain des Près district. Go there in the
morning.
Very different indeed from modern shopping
centers and so charming! Don't go there by car. Most Paris food market are
pedestrian areas and distances are small.
