You can also take the RER C metro from Paris to Versailles with three stations in Paris: Orsay, Saint Michel, Tour Eiffel (see Paris metro map).

You must buy a special ticket or a Paris metro pass 6 zones (usable from Paris Airport to Paris). The trip takes 40 minutes (trains leave every 20 or 30 minutes) to Versailles Rive Gauche station. Count 10 minute walk from the station to the Palace.

You can reach Versailles by train from Paris to Versailles: from Gare Montparnasse on the left bank to Versailles Chantier or Gare Saint-Lazare on the right bank to Versailles Rive Droite. These two stations in Versailles are farther from the Palace.
