Its ornamented facade, monumental stairs and Italian type hall with Chagall paintings on the ceiling make it one of the world most beautiful opera and ballet house. Maria Callas and Rudolf Noureev are among the many artists who wrote its history as one of the world foremost scenic stages for opera and ballet alike. |

The Opera Garnier district is one of the most animated districts in
Paris, with many theaters and restaurants.
In front of Opera Garnier, the Place de l'Opera is a superb example of 19th century urbanism. The magnificent Grand Hôtel (3, place de l'Opera) is another legacy from these days. The Scribe Hotel, rue Scribe, was the venue of the world first movie show by the Lumiere brothers in 1895. |
