Bastille Opera house in Paris |
|
The Bastille Opera is Paris modern opera house. It is the home base of the renown Opera National de Paris. The Bastille Opera was originally designed to replace the old and beautiful 19th century Paris Opera Garnier. That did not happen and Opera Garnier was not closed. Operas and ballets are performed in both opera houses. François Mitterrand, the French president between 1981 and 1995, took himself the decision to build a modern and popular place to perform operas and ballets. |
