Paris is a large and dense city,
predominantly grey seen from the sky.
On the ground, it is nevertheless a
green city with many tree lined boulevards and urban parks.
Among many other gardens and parks in Paris, we recommend you to take a
rest in a few exceptional ones: the romantic Luxembourg garden
(below) in Quartier Latin, the monumental Tuileries garden
(right) in between the Louvre and the Concorde square, the
modern La Villette and Bercy parks
on the Eastern side of Paris.
On
the edge of Paris, the Boulogne and Vincennes woods are
real forests providing many attractions.

Farther away, the Versailles
park is the best example of classical French parks. It is also one of the many parks left by the kings and nobles of France in
and around Paris.
Fifty kilometers away from Paris, the royal forests of Compiègne and Fontainebleau attract many Parisians on
weekends.
When you come to Paris, take a rest in these
gardens, parks
and forests. They are worth it
and offer a welcome change after a day of city life.
