We went yesterday on the
Champagne tour by minivan of
ParisVision. We did the tour with six very nice Americans from Saint-Louis, Atlanta and Hong Kong. Frederic, the guide, was quite knowledgeable and made every effort to turn our day into a great day. After a 90 minute ride, we were in front ot the stunning
Rheims Cathedral, one of the architectural and spiritual marvels of France, and visited it. We then headed off
to
Mutigny, a small village in the Marne valley, to visit the cellars of Zimmerlin, a family Champagne wine grower. We tasted their Champagne brut and Rose. We then had lunch at
La Cave a Champagne in
Epernay, also in the Marne valley. We had there a good meal including one of the best roasters in wine, a traditional french dish, we ever ate. We then headed off to the cellars of
Moet and Chandon, one of the most prestigious Champagne brands. The visit of the 28 kilometer long underground galleries with their 90 million aging Champagne bottles is memorable. We ended the day with the grand tasting of Moet et Chandon Brut Imperial, served by superbly dressed waiters. Add to it the nice weather and the rolling hills of Champagne. We had a wonderful
tour. Highly recommended.
